March Monthly Meeting

We will hold the next Wallingford Community Council (WCC) monthly meeting Wednesday March 2, 2022 at 7 PM.

Meeting Agenda:

  • Welcome and Call to Order
  • Question & Answer session with Councilmember Sara Nelson (position 9, citywide) – Attendees can ask questions directly in the videoconference, by submitting them through the chat feature, or in advance by email to the moderator.
  • Seattle Redistricting – Guest Elsa Batres-Boni, Civic Engagement Advisor, will introduce the Seattle Redistricting Commission and how to participate. The Seattle Redistricting Commission is responsible for overseeing the development of new City Council district lines in response to the completed 2020 Census.   • Update on new apartment building on Stone Way N. – Guest Scott Lien from Kamiak will join us to provide an update on the development plans and design.

September Monthly Meeting

We are excited to resume our monthly meetings, virtually for the time being, after the summer break.

Meeting Agenda:

  • Welcome and Call to Order
  • New apartment building on Stoneway – Guest Scott Lien, co-owner of developer Kamiak, will be joining us to share its plans for a new apartment building that will be located at the Stoneway Hardware site.
  • New Woodland Supportive Housing Development – Guest Daniel Malone, executive director of Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC), will join us to share information about the proposed affordable housing development at 817 N. 50th St. and 4905 Aurora Ave. N.
  • Good Shepherd Center (GSC) update – Historic Seattle and Meridian School are negotiating an extension on its lease. And, there are plans in the works to upgrade the building. As we continue to gather information, we’ll share what we know. Learn more about GSC’s history.
  • Upcoming public hearing on the Seattle Comprehensive Plan – The update to the plan is underway and some proposed changes include renaming single-family zones as neighborhood residential zones.

This month our Monthly Meeting will be a Zoom Meeting. This means attendees can choose to share your video, raise your hand to participate, and see your neighbors.

The Wallingford Community Council (WCC) Board of Directors will each share exciting and thoughtful updates from their respective areas:

  • Acknowledgements – Jenny Ring-Perez
  • Shorelines – Miranda Berner
  • Housing – Jamie Byrd
  • Land Use – Greg Hill
  • Quality of Life – Bonnie Williams
  • Communications – Frank Fay
  • Transportation – Ted Hunter (interim)

Darrell Bulmer from the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will discuss nearby projects in Fremont:

The N Northlake Way Retaining Wall project will repair and reinforce the retaining wall west of Stone Way N along Lake Union that holds up the buildings and the roadway. SDOT is conducting a survey to gather concerns and improvement ideas for this section of N Northlake Way.

The N 34th Street Mobility Improvements project will start construction soon to provide Protected Bicycle Lanes on N 34th Street between Fremont Ave N and Stone Way N. The Burke-Gilman Trail crossing will be improved at the intersection of Stone Way N and N 34th Street.
